The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it will henceforth take control of the warehouses operated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), and Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO).
This decision, according to the Customs, is aimed at enhancing the country’s revenue generation and ensuring the proper handling of imports and exports.
The Customs noted that the warehouses, which are currently being managed by FAAN, NAHCO, and SAHCO, will now be under its direct supervision to ensure that all goods and cargos are properly cleared and duties paid.
The move is expected to boost the government’s revenue through the collection of duties on imported goods. It will also ensure that all imports and exports are properly documented and cleared by licensed clearing agents in Nigeria.
The Customs has assured stakeholders that the takeover will not disrupt the normal operations of the airports, but rather enhance the efficiency of the clearing process.
